Individual Psychotherapy,
Couples Counseling, Adventure Therapy,
& Substance Abuse Counseling

Mike Lewis is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC),
an IFMGA Mountain Guide &
a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).

Psychotherapy

Join Mike online or in-person for individual psychotherapy and couples counseling, whether it be for a single session to get consultation on a specific issue, a few sessions to get on the other side of an immediate issue, or long-term weekly, biweekly, monthly, or as-needed sessions to address more ongoing challenges and transformational personal growth. As a meditation teacher, outdoor adventurer, world traveler, and as someone who has done and continues to do intensive inner work, Mike offers unique insights and therapeutic interventions.

Mike blends a variety of traditional talk therapies with more impactful experiential modalities. He adjusts the therapeutic orientation to the individual's, couple's, and family's specific needs, personalities, and interests.

Deepen self-understanding, transform the habitual patterns that block growth, and uncover subconscious material that influences negative behaviors. Gain specific support with grief, athletic issues, existential issues (purpose/meaning), trust, relationships, career, spiritual direction, childhood trauma and attachment symptoms, addiction and substance abuse, loneliness, co-parenting stress, compulsive behaviors, LGBTQ+, sexuality, life transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, psychophysiologic disorders & chronic pain, depression, PTSD, and more.

Adventure Therapy

The wilderness, mountains, and deserts provide unique opportunities for healing and personal growth. Having a day of challenge in the beauty of nature can provide a shift that months or even years of talk therapy cannot come close to. Talk about life issues on the trail and then zero-in on the day's objective, taking your mind off of everything and connect mind to body and to the natural world. Mike is a licensed Mountain Guide with the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and the International Federation of Mountain Guides (IFMGA); he worked full-time for most of 25 years - guiding rock and ice climbing, mountaineering, backcountry ski mountaineering, mountaineering expeditions, and international expeditions. During those years, Mike also worked for Outward Bound and other outdoor education schools. Mike continues to guide part-time and truly enjoys bridging psychotherapy with mountain adventure.

Addiction Counseling

Mike is a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and has worked in outpatient and inpatient addiction treatment venues. Mike uses 12-Step and non-12-Step methods to help clients overcome the difficulties of substance abuse and sex/porn abuse. Some clients may want or need complete sobriety/abstinence while others are looking to develop moderation. Co-occurring disorders are common for people with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) and sex/porn addictions such as depression, anxiety, social anxiety, childhood and adult trauma, personality disorders, mood disorders, chronic pain, etc.
